TransPak India Expands Capabilities with New HT Chamber

HT Chamber

Delivering in-house ISPM-15 compliant wood packaging with greater precision and traceability.

TransPak India has installed a Heat Treatment (HT) Chamber at our Pune facility, giving customers faster turnaround, tighter quality control, and guaranteed export compliance.

Heat Treatment: What it is and Why it Matters

HT chambers don’t sound particularly exciting, but these industrial ovens are a crucial link in the global supply chain. These high-tech kilns use precision-controlled heat to treat wooden packaging—pallets, crates, and skids—bringing them to a specific internal temperature that sterilizes the wood and eliminates any insects, larvae, or pathogens naturally present in raw timber.

Why does this matter? In global trade, wooden packaging crosses borders constantly, and without proper treatment it can unknowingly carry invasive species with it. Even one untreated pallet can introduce pests that threaten forests, crops, and entire ecosystems. That’s why most countries enforce ISPM-15, the international standard designed to prevent the spread of wood-borne pests.

Until now, TransPak India has used the services of a trusted third party to provide heat treatment. But as customer demand grew, the team saw an opportunity to elevate service by bringing the process fully in-house. With the new HT chamber now operational in Pune, TransPak can now deliver faster, more controlled, and more compliant export packaging, reducing customer risk and eliminating avoidable delays.

As Bhupinder Deshpande, GM of India Operations, explains:

“With the Heat Treatment Chamber now operational, we can deliver fully compliant, export-ready wooden packaging with faster turnaround and controlled quality. This positions TransPak India strongly to support expanding international logistics and supply chains.”

Engineered for Global Compliance

The HT chamber meets the strict requirements of:

  • ISPM-15 (International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures)
  • NSPM-9 (National Standard for Phytosanitary Measures-India)
  • IPPC marking regulations
  • NIPHM (National Institute of Plant Health Management) Regulations

Each treatment cycle meets the ISPM-15 mandate of achieving a minimum core temperature of 56°C, maintained continuously for at least 30 minutes, with automated digital logging that provides full traceability and certified documentation for every batch. After processing, the wood is stamped with the official IPPC seal, and certified records are attached.

Improved Speed, Control, and Customer Value

By heat-treating wood onsite, TransPak India can now:

  • Deliver ISPM-15 compliant packaging without relying on external vendors
  • Reduce turnaround times
  • Maintain precise control over quality and traceability
  • Provide chemical-free, environmentally responsible pest mitigation
  • Ensure smooth customs clearance across all major export markets

This upgrade enhances reliability and accelerates delivery for customers shipping to North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.

Global Impact for Our Customers

Ultimately, this new HT chamber enhances what matters most: the service experience and results TransPak can provide to our customers. Improving in-house capacity helps TransPak India support growing industrial demand with a faster turnaround, consistent quality and compliance, improved traceability, and confidence at every step of the export process.
