Engineered Packaging Solutions with Certified Testing Capabilities

At TransPak, engineered packaging solutions go beyond how they are designed. Packaging solutions are rigorously tested and validated to withstand whatever challenging shipping environments your products will face. With decades of hands-on expertise and in-house ISTA-certified testing, our engineers ensure every crate and custom packaging solution performs flawlessly in real-world conditions.

TransPak combines cutting-edge technical precision with proven testing capabilities to deliver packaging that protects high-value shipments every step of the way. As your single trusted partner for integrated packaging and logistics, we bring scalability, innovation, and a personal touch to protect your products worldwide.

What Are Engineered Packaging Solutions?

Engineered packaging solutions are custom-designed systems created to precisely match the specifications of a product, the way it’s handled, and the conditions it will encounter during shipping. Unlike off-the-shelf packaging, which relies on standard box sizes and generic materials, engineered packaging is built from the ground up to protect high-value, fragile, heavy, or difficult-to-ship items throughout complex supply chains.

At TransPak, package engineering is a technical discipline. Our team uses advanced tools like Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to simulate how materials and structures will perform under shock, vibration, and other environmental factors. Prototyping and real-world testing in our in-house labs are also used to validate designs against industry standards and customer-specific requirements.

Whether your equipment is bound for a cleanroom, a construction site, or a cargo hold, TransPak’s custom-engineered packaging ensures it gets there protected and intact.

In-House Packaging Testing Labs

State-of-the-art packaging deserves state-of-the-art testing. At TransPak, our ISTA-certified Packaging Test Lab at our global design headquarters in Hayward, CA, ensures your packaging isn’t just well-designed, it’s ready to perform. Using a range of industry-standard testing methods, including drop testing, vibration simulation, incline impact, and environmental chambers, we validate packaging against real-world shipping conditions. Our engineering team helps you strike the right balance of protecting your product without overspending on materials.

Package and Crate Testing Capabilities

Your packages can undergo rigorous testing to ensure the highest performance and integrity because our testing capabilities are fully compliant with ISTA standards. While TransPak touts package testing capabilities across global markets, our main ISTA-certified lab in the heart of Silicon Valley offers the following:

Compression Testing

TransPak uses advanced testing techniques to evaluate and assess the package integrity and performance under compression forces that typically happen during warehousing, storage and road and sea shipping scenarios.  TransPak’s comprehensive tests look at appropriate compression test parameters to ensure a realistic and meaningful assessment to help customers determine the effects of compression on the packaging.

  • Maximum load of 10,000 lbs
  • Testing area of 51”x59”x59”
  • Programmable tests include cyclic tests, sacking test, maximum load and deformation under defined load

Vibration Table

Vibration damage incurred during shipment can often go unnoticed until your customer starts to use the product and it fails. TransPak can test your packaging to ensure the vibrations it will be subject to during transit are within the acceptable limits for your product. We can also ensure that your product’s natural vibration frequency is different than the frequency of the packaging; this is very important to avoid severe damage during transport.

Test packages and medium-sized crates on our Lansmont Model 10000 Vibration table.

  • Able to duplicate the most rigorous handling environments
  • Large table access ensures flexibility to address your particular application. Table size of 60”x60”
  • Customizable test profiles to meet your specific needs as well as ISTA and ASTM standards
  • Testing capabilities including random vibration, swept sine vibration, resonance search and dwell, repetitive bounce

Incline Impact Tester

TransPak can test for impacts encountered during transportation or while the crate is being mechanically handled during loading, unloading of docking.

Test your product packaging performance with TransPak’s innovative IT 152-4K.

  • Unique articulating carriage pivots to allow level loading or test articles
  • Simulates real-life distribution handling hazards
  • Maximum load of 4,000 lbs
  • Testing area of 60”x60”x98”

Environmental Testing Chamber

TransPak can test your packaging in an environmental conditioning chamber to ensure that the materials stand up to humidity and temperature changes so the crate properly protects your product all the way to its destination.

  • Temperature ranges from -30°C to 177°C
  • Relative humidity levels range from 10% to 98%
  • Fully programmable for any variety of user-defined test cycles

Drop Testing

During normal distribution, packages can be dropped from various heights on other containers, on warehouse floors, or inside shipping containers, trucks, or trains.

We can rigorously test your package to ensure it protects your product if it is dropped during transit. This typically includes flat, corner and edge drops.

Our PDT-80 Precision Drop Tester drop tests against shock hazards.

  • Allows for drops ranging from 12” to 72”
  • Test heavier packages, often handled and dropped in unpredictable ways
  • Controlled drops on corners, edges and faces of your packing
  • Drops packages of up to 177 lbs

Built for Compliance. Proven by Data.

Compliant with ISTA, ASTM, and MIL-SPEC

Every TransPak solution is engineered to meet the most rigorous packaging standards, including:

  • ISTA – for performance in real-world shipping conditions
  • ASTM – for material and structural consistency
  • MIL-SPEC – for military-grade durability and precision (when required by customer)

Whether you’re shipping sensitive electronics, aerospace components, or mission-critical equipment, our packaging is built to satisfy regulatory and operational.

Validated by Testing. Refined by Data.

We don’t just follow standards—we test against them. Using real-world simulations like drop, vibration, and environmental testing, our engineers gather performance data to:
  • Identify and eliminate failure points
  • Optimize material usage without compromising protection
  • Ensure consistent results across repeat shipments
This data-first approach ensures your packaging is compliant and ready to perform.

Impact Resistant Packaging for Fragile and Sensitive Products

When it comes to protecting delicate or high-value items, impact resistance is essential. At TransPak, we engineer packaging to absorb or disperse shock energy, preventing damage during handling, transit, or storage. Engineered packaging solutions create a protective buffer that keeps your valuable products secure and intact.

At TransPak, we design and build custom impact-resistant packaging systems based on the product’s fragility, weight, shape, and shipping environment. Solutions include:

  • Foam-in-place systems that mold around the item for a snug, protective fit
  • Precision-cut foam inserts tailored to product geometry and shock absorption requirements
  • Bracing and blocking systems that secure components in place and reduce movement
  • Cushioned wood crates built to distribute forces across structural supports

Every impact-resistant packaging solution is engineered with performance and efficiency in mind—minimizing the risk of damage while optimizing space, weight, and materials. Whether you’re shipping lab equipment, electronics, medical devices, or precision instruments, TransPak ensures your cargo is protected from the unexpected.
